Skip Bin Hire FAQs

Skip bin hire for Brisbane South, Logan, Ipswich & Scenic Rim

When and where can skip bins be delivered?

Brisbane South Skip Bins can be delivered to most Brisbane Southside suburbs through to Ipswich, Logan, Jimboomba and Beaudesert, Monday to Saturday.

We also deliver to all businesses, schools, offices, factories, showground’s, shopping Centre’s and building sites.

We recommend that you get the skip bin delivered the day before you need it so that tradespeople or machinery operators can utilise the skip bin first thing in the morning without having to wait for the skip bin to arrive.

Where do you place the skip and can I move it?

Mick will ask your requirements at time of order or on arrival and place the skip bin in an appropriate location for your ease of access which causes minimal impact on property; driveways etc, and for our ease of removal once filled. Under NO circumstances is a  skip bin to be moved due to OH&S reasons.

Unfortunately, driving on grass can cause some damage particularly in the wet. Please be assured we will make every effort to ensure we don’t cause any damage. Should you have any concerns or special requirements please ask Mick at the time of delivery.

As a general rule, the skip bin needs to be placed on private property. This includes most driveways if they are within the boundaries of your property. Your driveway needs to be at least 3 metres wide for a normal truck to fit in the driveway. You should also ensure there are no power lines or trees that may hinder the access and placement of the skip bin at time of delivery. If you think that access may be difficult, feel free to discuss the location of the skip bin with Mick.

Do I need Council permission or a permit?

If the skip bin is placed on your property, you do not need permission or a permit. However, if the skip bin is to be placed on public lands, nature strips or driveway lay backs, a permit may be required. Different councils have different regulations.

Can we put the skip on the footpath?

Generally, yes, however we cannot block pedestrian access or utility pits. A permit may be required. Different councils have different regulations.

Can we put the skip on the road?

Should you wish to put the skip bin on the road, it is necessary for the property owner to make application to Queensland Police.

What size of skip bin should be used?

We always suggest that you get a skip bin that is slightly larger than the volume of waste you have estimated that you want to get rid of. It is too easy to underestimate the amount of waste you have and having to get another smaller bin skip is a more expensive option.

Several different skip sizes including 3, 4, 6, 8, 10 & 12 cubic meter skips are available. We also have skip bins with doors that are easier to load if you are disposing of sand, bricks or concrete.

The most common size skip bins for a household clean up is 6 cubic metres.

For a large clean-up or renovation, the 8 – 12 cubic meter skips are more suitable.

What's included in the price of a skip?

When you call, Mick will ask you what size skip bin you require, what type of material is going into it and how long you require it. With this information you will be quoted a competitive price. Included in this price is delivery, pick up, GST and all associated tip fees.

What waste should I keep out of the Skip?

In accordance with environment legislation: asbestos or fibro, tyres, food, liquids, gas bottles, flammable containers and general hazardous materials including solvents, paints, acids, oils, poisons, needles & syringes, explosives and any other environmentally unfriendly substances or objects likely to cause harm or damage. To dispose of these materials you need to contact your local council.

Most all other wastes such as greenery can be mixed with household and construction/demolition wastes.

There is no exact way of telling if you have asbestos, but as a general rule houses pre 1980 are likely to contain some in the fibro cement sheeting found in the bathroom and eaves of the house.

Are there any special tips for loading our skips and how high can I fill the skip bin?

Yes. All skip bins are to be loaded no higher than the top rim with nothing protruding from any direction, and all waste to be fully contained within the skip bin capacity. There is no exception to this rule under Queensland transport law. In the event that you have over filled the skip bin, we reserve the right to remove some of the contents to a lawful height.

What happens if I overload the skip?

Where possible Mick will try to take the skip bin, once the overloaded item(s) are removed from the top of the bin, the overloaded item(s) where possible will be left in a neat pile near the side of the skip bin.

What happens if the driver can't lift (upload) the skip?

Mick will contact you and advise you that we are unable to remove the skip bin due to the overloading. Mick will then arrange for you to receive another skip bin to transfer the material into. This skip bin will be charged at the stated rate.

How long can I keep a skip?

Standard Skip Bin Hire is for 7 days.  Extended hire fee charged at $10.00 per day applies for each additional days hire.  If you finish with the skip bin sooner, simply call Mick on 0466 776 314 and he will collect the skip bin (note: no refunds apply if you fill the skip bin sooner than anticipated).

How much notice is required for skip hire?

24 hrs notice is usually required for deliveries, change-overs, or collections, however for orders placed before midday, we can often deliver a skip bin the same day. We do our utmost to accommodate people on tight schedules and work with you; however, we always appreciate as much notice as possible.

How do I book a skip?

You can book your skip bin here online or have any questions answered by calling Mick on 0466 776 314 or emailing MickCarroll112@gmail.com or use our enquiry or our online booking form any time, night or day.)

How do I pay for the skip?

Payment for skip bin hire is usually required at the time of ordering or prior to delivery, by cash, credit card, Zippay or EFTPOS. We accept Visa and Mastercard.

We also accept direct deposit.  Please ask us for our bank account details if you would like to pay by direct deposit.

Call us and after ordering your skip bin, we will ask for your credit card over the phone for payment.

What happens to my waste after it has been collected?

Brisbane South Skip Bins is committed to caring for our environment locally. All waste recovered by Brisbane South Skip Bins is sorted at our central sorting facility and recycling yard. Approximately 75% of all waste that enters our skip bins is recycled and re-used.

If you have any further questions, please contact Mick on 0466 776 314.
